imported_Debbie Posted October 6, 2003 Posted October 6, 2003 I have 3 dogs, collectively they are called "The Girlz". I also have 1 extremely fat Orange Tiger cat named Kato. :D #1- Jack Russell Terrrier is named Sassafrass Louise We decided before we even got her that her name was to be Sassy, because it fit a Jacks personality !! I picked her middle name , because I'm always saying "GEEZ Louise !!" when something goes wrong !! She is called Sassy, Sass, The Snow Queen, Sasser, Sasserfrass, Snowflake, The Queen Bee, Raisinette (her eyes are so dark). #2- Lab/Rott named Gretchen Josephine I wanted a German name for her and her middle name is after my elderly neighbor lady (who preferred her, over my terriers) Nicknames; Gretchie, Gretch, Gretchen Josephina, Gretchie Wretch, Big Blackie, Blackie from Muskakie, Gretchie Doodle, Rottrador, RottenLab,Labweiler, Black Beauty, Snow White (Hair was black), Woosie girl. #3- Jack Russell Terrier named Maisy Mae. At first we were going to call her Susie Q., but my hub didn't like it..... so then we were throwing names like Daisy around and hub said Maisy and it just seemed to fit her. (she kind of looked like a mouse) and Mae just went with it . Her nicknames are : Maisy Moo Moo, Little Heifer (she has spots like a Jersey cow) , Maisy the Menace, Maisy Woo Woo, My Wittle Baby, Mama's girl, Stinky butt (anal gland problems !) , Wolverine (nails are like), Crazy Maisy, Snow Leopard, Geoffrey Giraffe (Toys R Us, she has Giraffe spots like him) , Little Wench, Miss Impatience :evilbat: Last but not least is Kato Kitty. He's an Orange Tiger cat , and when we first got him his stripes were so pretty he looked like someone had poured Butterscotch syrup over vanilla icecream, so we were calling him Butterscotch. But then he started getting a personality and we changed it to Kato....... From the Pink Panther movie. Kato was Inspector Clousea's asian houseboy and to keep the Inspector on his toes ....Kato would jump out at him by surprise and they would fight. HaHa Our Kato does that to all of us including the dogs !! And Kitty just goes with Kato. Nicknames: Damn Cat !! FatCat, Rotten Cat, Bigboy, Kato Kaelin, Mr. Stinkers, Garfield, Morris. Man !! Sorry that was soooo long !! I've probably left a few out, because I know my Hubby has alot of nicknames for all of them and even has songs he sings about them !! :o Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted October 6, 2003 Posted October 6, 2003 This has become such a cool thread! I don't recall now who said they have a song they made up for their dog..but so do I! I thought I was nuts for making it, but he just loves it. I would post it..but it's way too silly for that! I would have to leave the board!   Kat...I thought I was the only one calling my pet "Bin Laden"..although I call her Jaeden Bin Laden, only when she's bad...like a Pit bull terrierist bad. :o Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 We have Gusto, an airedale terrier. His name was Gus when we found him. But Gusto was much better. See, now we run with Gusto and play with Gusto and just live our lives with Gusto. We also had Boo, another airedale. His given name was "Fearless King Boru." We soon learned that Fearless was afraid of everything, hence Boo. And my brother found a dog. He was a huskie or malmute mix?? Never knew. Anyway he called him AWOL. Brother tried to find the owner with no success and kept AWOl. But as Awol filled out. (He was starving when Bro found him) His name became Wall. One more - My brother in law had a hunting dog that he called SOB. I'll leave that for you to figure out. Great topic Quote

Aroura Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 Ohhh, great topic! :D I'll start with the dogs, I wont name all the pets we've ever had, just the ones still around, otherwise I'll literally have to name hundreds!!! :o Ok, Tessa first. Claire and I named her, we wanted something human sounding, Kelly was the other option but Tessa stuck  Nicknames are - Tessa la besta, Beaky (long nose, in comparison to Lily!), Miss Incontinence (yup, she's incontinent!), Tess Tess, Black Dog. Puddles - well Poodle is French for Puddle, it was raining when we got her and she left puddles around the place, so now she's stuck with the name!!! Nicknames - Puds, Puddlin, Poodles, Sargent Scrawny Tail, vgggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggnx mccccccccccccccccccc888888888888888877777;b..... ok, thats not a nick name, that was just Montie making himself at home on the key board!!!! She's also called Piddles, Poochie etc Lily, well I named Lily before I even knew about her!!! I think it was fate, I was at home one day and said "I'm going to get a Boxer and call it Lily", opend the newspapers and there was Boxers for sale! As it turned out thats also her pedigree name and the name the breeder called her, so she never had to change names! Nicknames - Schmoofty eye, Boobaloo, Gorgeous, Honey Buns, Darling, Ma baybe, Flobber lips, Giraffe, Lily Pie, Cauliflower farts, bub... the list goes on, every time I get in one of those moods the craziests words for her come out of my mouth   Belladonna, we couldn't decide on Bella or Donna, so she got Belladonna, otherwise known as deadly nightshade, well she's as black as night so the name suits her. Nicknames - usually Donna, some times Bella,-+++++++++++++++++++0-=============================58858588 (sorry, Montie again!), Flop dog, Niusance, Garbage guts, Irion gut etc Last, but certainly not least - MONTIE!!!!! Well he got his name when I was trying to say that I should buy Frankie a diamontie collar (before I got him), anyway, it some how came out as "I should buy Montie a collar" and I thought it was cute so it stuck!!! He's already picked up a few nick names such as - Montie moo, Montie Zoomer, Montie Carlo, Montie Beno, Montie Bell, Montgomory, Montosaurus (9 miles long... he's got his own little song for that one  ), Montsta, Fluffy Bum, Bubby boo, Snookums... and plenty more where they came from!!! The cats (sorry, no pics) Rex - well I guess he was the king, so we called him Rex  Meeko - well I just kind of liked that name for a Siamese!!! :D Quote
courtnek Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003
Puddles - well Poodle is French for Puddle
I did not know that!! I only speak a little french... Is that some indication of their water-dog history?? I think that's terrible!!! Calling a water-dog "puddle"...    Quote
Aroura Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 Well I read it in a dog book like 10 years ago, and for some reason it just stuck in my mind. Poor Puddles, doesn't even have a proper name... no wonder she's so shy :-? Quote
Peng1zrule Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 Sandy...I didn't name her, but she was that color as a young'un...sandy colored...I call her san-san, sandy girl, my golden girl (my little angel) and babygirl Buddy...he is Sandy's friend, her "buddy" he's a snert, a brat, my big boy, my little gentleman, HEY!! YOU!! and several unmentionable nomenclatures Gypsy...I didn't name her, either...I call her GypGyp, Gyper, The Gyp, Little miss, miss missy, poutpout, and my little girl. (BTW, when I use the "my" before a nickname...that's what the dogs come to...gypsy knows when she hears "my little girl" I'm talking about her) Fang...I didn't name him, either (pound puppy) He is Mister. sometimes Mr. Fang. India...she's all black, like india ink. I call her Indie or my quirky corgi Calliope...pronounced KUH-LY-UH-PEE...and she has no nicknames. I allow NO ONE to shorten it. she is calliope and comes to nothing else. I do say it in a certain tone and tempo that brings her at a dead run, though. Katherine-after a vampire in a book that could turn into a white cat Ziggie-only his first name...he's Ziggie Stardust (yes, after Bowie) Carlotta, Diego, and Lolita...my cockatiels--just liked the names Myrtle and Maude Turtle...ditto Josie and Howie, my budgies/keet kids...again, just liked how they sounded. Quote
abker17 Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 Oh! I forgot my girls middle names! Abby is Abby Marie(or Abigail Marie, what my mom prefers to call her cause she's so prissy and walks around like she's at a show all the time    ) And Cracker is Cracker Leigh....... :D Great topic! I love hearing all these cutie nick-names, and I've written a song for my pups to, but usually I just sing them "You are my sunshine" song........   Quote
Rowie-the-Pooh Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 What a great topic! :D Rowie: Rowie had her (unusual) name before I got her. Her Pedigree name is "Pataya Farm's Morning Star". I never asked the owner where he got her name from, or why she was named that, or what it meaned. I now know I should have asked! But a internet search told me that her name meant :"Scottish Bread Roll". Errrm..... I have a bread roll for a dog? Nicknames: Rowie Pooh, Rowie-the-Pooh, RooRoo, "sit, sit, sit", bitch (cuz she is sometimes ) fuzzbutt, Roo Pooh, honeysuckle, pooh pooh, "rowie wanna snuggle?", doll face, smoosh toosh, rowz, run run, and finally... NO ROWIE NO! Quote
Black GSD Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 OK, here goes; "Diva", Because I liked the name. (She is a solid black GSD.) She "goes by" "Hogger". (Since I got her in the summer and it was HOT. So I started calling her a little "sweat hog" and that got changed into Hogger.) "Wrangler". Because I wanted a "western" sounding name since he is a "heeler". Wrangler also fit since Wrangler jeans are generally blue and he is a Blue Merle. (He is actually a ACD/Australian Shepherd mix. But looks like a blue merle ACD.) I call him "Sweetness". (Actually is called that more than his real name.) "Crazy" 8 month old Black Sable GSD. His "real" name is "Xavo" (because I liked the name.) But due to his personality he is now called Crazy or Craze. (He is NEVER called Xavo anymore.) (Won't get into the horses names.) Quote
