Guest Anonymous Posted July 25, 2002 Posted July 25, 2002 Interested in a rare and exceptional breed of dog from Texas? The Texas Blue Lacy dog breed is registered with the CKC, UKI and NKC kennel organizations and by proclamation, is the only true Texas dog breed recognized by the Texas State Legislature. For more information on this wonderful family and out door loving dog breed please contact me at . Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted July 25, 2002 Posted July 25, 2002 I have never heard of this breed. Which dogs were used into its creation? How many generations back can u trace your dogs heritage? Or, is this another Cockopoodle or RottiLab? There are Way to many breeds as it is, I dont think you should be creating another one to add to the growing list of homeless animals in the world. If this is just a breed that i have overlooked, i would like to know more. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted July 25, 2002 Posted July 25, 2002 I was curious also and found some good info about the breed: Origial Country bred- US Weight- 40-50 pounds Coat- Gray, tan, yellow, cream, black; usually solid, but may have minimal white markings. These dogs are in the category curs, with the emphasis on the herding/droving characteristics. Their relatives are the Greyhound/scenthound/ coyote cross. Not much info... :-? It bascially said that they are awesome herders. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted July 25, 2002 Posted July 25, 2002 Most reputable breeders and knowledgeable dog people do not place any credibility in CKC, UKI and NKC kennel organizations. Basically, they register anything. Although I'm sure your lacy dogs are just wonderful pets. They are not a recognized breed. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted July 29, 2002 Posted July 29, 2002 Basically a bunch of cowboys got together and bred their "un-registered" cow dogs and decided to call it a "Lacy". Lacy's are a conglomerate of different breeds, trying to make the ultimate herding dog. Well, Border Collies and Australian Kelpies ARE the ultimate herding dogs. Lacy's tend to grip and rip the livestock. Why on earth would a stockman want to spend hours surturing up the cattle after these head-strong biting maniacs got thru with the cattle ...... when a Border Collie or Kelpie could be used with out the bloody mess!? Guest Anonymous Posted January 26, 2003 Posted January 26, 2003 It doesn't matter to me who does or does not recognize the Blue Lacy as a breed. The fact is, my dog is instantly seen as NOT being just another hound, you either see it in his outward appearance, or in his eyes, or simply by the way he moves. Everyone sees it, I don't need a piece of paper to dazzle anyone, the proof is in the pudding. I've had Border Collies, and I'm certainly not saying the Blue Lacy is superior,....nor inferior either. I'm simply saying that before anyone knocks the Blue Lacy as some furball gimmick, they ought to take a look. Incase anyone is wondering, I'm not in the business of selling dogs or making money from them. I just don't want anyone to cheat themselves by NOT looking at the Blue Lacy for themselves. I could type all night about how great a dog mine is, but I'm sure you are already thinking that I'm so hung up on my dog that I can't be rational. So look for yourself, you'll know the instant you see the Blue Lacy, that I was not blowing hot air. God Bless Quote
DogPaddle Posted January 26, 2003 Posted January 26, 2003 Just a side question - when people refer to CKC are they refering to the Canadian Kennel Club? I don't know the differences between the Kennel Clubs but I know that the Canadian Kennel Club registeries less breeds than the AKC, the do not even register Border Collies I think. Quote
Black GSD Posted January 26, 2003 Posted January 26, 2003 Dogpaddle, The CKC they are refering to could be the Continental Kennel Club (If it even still exists.) Quote
